Leo Spilotti
I led the Livy mobile redesign to improve retention, engagement, and perceived value. We reworked the onboarding, reimagined the dashboard, and built a modular design system. These changes helped shift Livy from a reactive security app into a daily home wellness companion.

The Challenge
Low engagement and retention, with early drop-off caused by:
Lack of onboarding
Outdated Visual Design
Lack of guidance
Cluttered Interface
Unused Features
Usability Problems
Unclear benefits of sensor data
My Role & Approach
My role encompassed UX research, UX/UI design, prototyping and user testing, and collaborating closely with stakeholders. I started by identifying pain points and opportunities through user research, building empathy with real user scenarios to ensure our redesign would meet genuine needs.
The focus was on restructuring the information architecture for clarity and flow, while creating a modern, visually cohesive interface that aligned with Livy’s brand values. Throughout the process, we relied on rapid iteration and testing to refine the design and ensure a seamless experience for users.

🔁 Iterate
The focus was on restructuring the information architecture for clarity and flow, while creating a modern, visually cohesive interface that aligned with Livy’s brand values. Throughout the process, we relied on rapid iteration and testing to refine the design and ensure a seamless experience for users.
We restructured the app into three core sections: a clear dashboard offering a snapshot of home status, streamlined device management, and an easily accessible log of unusual activities. We refined onboarding to highlight benefits immediately and reworked alerts to make them more visible and actionable.
The Result
Livy Alive launched with improved onboarding, navigation, and clarity.
Users found it easier to use, felt more in control, and engaged more often.
✅ Dashboard at a Glance: Clear, actionable insights on home security and air quality.
✅ Streamlined Device Control: Intuitive toggles and controls for every device.
✅ Reassuring Visual Language: Soft shapes and calming colors make security feel personal and approachable.
✅ Accessible Alerts: Immediate notification of events, wherever you are.

Reflections
This project reinforced the value of early cross-team alignment and a scalable design system as enablers of fast, consistent delivery.
It also taught me the importance of staying flexible. Being open to strategic shifts allowed us to adapt quickly, prioritize impact, and keep moving forward without losing focus on the user.
